1&2 Samuel

1&2 Samuel

The book of Samuel tells the story primarily of three individuals: Samuel, Israel’s last judge; Saul, her first king; and David, the founder of a dynasty that would endure for over three centuries. It is a book about transition—transition from theocracy to monarchy. Under the theocracy God had provided the periodic leadership needed by the people; now leadership would be institutionalized and hereditary. - Raymond B.
