Sovereign God, My Comfort and Hope
Sovereign God, My Comfort and Hope
Adapted from “Divine Providence” by C. Wesley
God’s sovereignty is comfort and hope. By His powerful hand He carries us on to His goal for us. The chorus of this wonderful hymn makes four declarations: God does no wrong, He is strong, His word cannot fail, and He will order our ways accordingly. No chance, no fate, only God at work, that is our life. Our God knows our hearts so well, how prone we are to fretting and worry, but He brings us back to good sense by His word and Spirit. He brings us back to rest in His sovereign hands. Don’t give up. Don’t give out. Give thanks that your life, from start to end, is in God’s sovereign hands, and He is moving you to His goal for us.

The songs of Regulative Heart are curated, adapted and produced by Greg Pearson of Tennessee. Greg has served the Lord’s church in various roles over the last 44 years, including Pastor, Minister of Music, Student Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Elder in a Reformed Baptist Church. After suffering a debilitating stroke in December 2021, limiting his ability to continue to serve in those roles, Greg has turned his attention to bringing these important songs, in various musical styles, to as many of God’s people as possible. Now, in partnership with Monergism.com, Greg is in the process of writing a short devotional intro for each song as you will find each week in the Monergism.com blog.
