Critical Race Theory
A Major (fatal) flaw in critical race theory is that all members of any given identity do NOT have the same experience, consciousness or outlook on life. Once you realize that critical race theory is blind to individuality and individual experience, the whole house of cards collapses.
Critical theory and identity politics must be given no place in the evangelical church. They insidiously subvert the free gospel of grace, and the unifying power of the gospel. They take our eyes off of Christ, and fuel suspicion in one another. Indeed, they are as divisive and incendiary as they are convoluted and wearisome. If ever Christian believers needed to double-down in our devotion to the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ for all peoples and nations, it is now. May God use this tumultuous time to bring Holy Spirit wrought revival to the church, and remind us that the world's solutions do not solve humanity's deepest and most pressing needs. -Jon D. Payne
Modern critical theory views reality through the lens of power. Each individual is seen either as oppressed or as an oppressor, depending on their race, class, gender, sexuality, and a number of other categories. Oppressed groups are subjugated not by physical force or even overt discrimination, but through the exercise of hegemonic power—the ability of dominant groups to impose their norms, values, and expectations on society as a whole, relegating other groups to subordinate positions. - Neil Shenvi
You won't understand the appeal of Social Justice until you understand it as a religion. People endure the call-out culture, the endless apologies, and the self-flagellation because -in the end- it assures them of their own virtue. It exacts penance, but promises justification. - Neil Shenvi
