Dear Refuge of My Soul

Dear Refuge of My Soul

Adapted from “God Our Refuge” by A. Steele

Is God’s ear ever closed to His Saints? In answer I love this sentence from the song, “No! still the ear of thy good grace attends my needful prayer.” This magnificent hymn addresses every aspect of need, provision, doubt, hope and assurance - things we are all familiar with. So as we humble ourselves, casting care upon the Lord (1 Pet. 5:6-7) we experience all of it. We’ve expressed our need (humility). We ask because we are confident of God’s grace toward us (hope) and know He must provide. As we await the “proper time” there will surely be doubt. But God will lift us up. We know that! (assurance).

Don’t lose heart, God will lift us up when we are troubled with cares. Give thanks!

The songs of Regulative Heart are curated, adapted and produced by Greg Pearson of Tennessee. Greg has served the Lord’s church in various roles over the last 44 years, including Pastor, Minister of Music, Student Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Elder in a Reformed Baptist Church. After suffering a debilitating stroke in December 2021, limiting his ability to continue to serve in those roles, Greg has turned his attention to bringing these important songs, in various musical styles, to as many of God’s people as possible. Now, in partnership with Monergism.com, Greg is in the process of writing a short devotional intro for each song as you will find each week in the Monergism.com blog.
