Christ the Fountain for Sin

Christ the Fountain for Sin

CHRIST THE FOUNTAIN FOR SIN

Adapted from “Christ the Fountain for Sin and Uncleanness” by J Hart; Chorus by W. Cowper

A favorite hymn of many is “There Is a Fountain Filled with Blood” by W. Cowper. Perhaps he got the thought from this hymn by J. Hart who died four years prior to Cowper writing his. Regardless, both hymns draw our minds to Zech. 13:1 which says, “On that day there shall be a fountain opened for the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and uncleanness.” There can only be one fountain in view that cleanses so thoroughly, the fountain of our Savior’s blood that, as this hymn says, “richly dispenses salvation and health.”

Give thanks today for this fountain of precious, saving blood opened for us.

The songs of Regulative Heart are curated, adapted and produced by Greg Pearson of Tennessee. Greg has served the Lord’s church in various roles over the last 44 years, including Pastor, Minister of Music, Student Pastor, Associate Pastor, and Elder in a Reformed Baptist Church. After suffering a debilitating stroke in December 2021, limiting his ability to continue to serve in those roles, Greg has turned his attention to bringing these important songs, in various musical styles, to as many of God’s people as possible. Now, in partnership with Monergism.com, Greg is in the process of writing a short devotional intro for each song as you will find each week in the Monergism.com blog.
