"Christians are Bigots"

Visitor
Christians are bigots. They tell gay people that their very identity is unnatural and that they should not live their lives based on their sexuality.

Response
Christians believe all people without exception are under the wrath of God for their sin, not just homosexuals. So no one is being singled out here. We were all born in sin. Which is why we must be born again. So when Christians declare homosexuality sinful it is no different than if they say fornication or adultery is sinful. All are summoned to come to Christ to be liberated from the guilt and power of sin. We all desperately need Christ. I am no better than someone who self identifies as a gay person and definitely do not deserve heaven more than he does.

Other ‘sins’ are choices, you can choose adultery, fornication, murder, etc. Homosexuality is not a choice. These don’t even get a rating in the supposed 7 detestable sins. ( Proverbs 6:16-19). Live and let live, be accepting, loving and compassionate to everyone regardless.

Response
May I ask, can human beings be sinless? If not, why not? The reason is that no one can choose to live a sinless life. We are ALL born in bondage to a sinful condition we cannot deliver ourselves out of. We were all "born this way" which is why we all must be born again. Though our sins may differ, none of us are are any different than gay people in our condition. We are all sinners by nature, and that is WHY we need grace.

I would encourage you to do some self reflection to see whether it is possible to be sinless for human beings. If not, then you ought to rethink your above analysis.

Compassion is to treat them like everybody else ... and preach the gospel to them like everyone else. It would be hateful if I withhold the gospel from them, as if they were some special class of sinners who did not deserve to have the opportunity to receive life.

Most churches I know of have people who used to identify as gay. I can count on two hands those in my own church who have been in bondage to this sin ... but are embraced as brothers and sisters just like everyone else. They worship alongside me every Sunday and have received redemption from Christ the Savior who delivers them and me from both the guilt and power of sin.

Jesus came the liberate the captives. To say that compassion is to single out any group as not worthy of the gospel is to deny the whole purpose for which Christ came.

Can’t you see that this idea of needing Christ is nothing more than a religious and cultish tactic to keep you in? Now consider that no evidence has ever been revealed for this god. For someone so impactful in human history all he can leave behind is a book that has many contradictions and bad morals. Also to follow many supernatural explanations have been replaced with natural ones while the opposite has not happened. Also I am no better than a gay person? You are implying that there is something wrong with being gay. This is because your bible was written at a time where this sort of thing was akin to cannibalism in terms of how taboo it was, with that in mind it makes far more sense that the bible is just a book projecting mans pride into a being that is portrayed as the hero but is really the villain that constantly says he loves us just to stop us from rejecting him.

Response
By changing the subject I assume that you acknowledge that the original charge that Christians are bigots was resolved for you?.

As for your new charge, it seem that using the phrase "bad morals" to describe the bible means you know and are privy to what are good morals. You speak as if you know as a fact that your morals are better than those in the bible. How do you know? By what standard? You talk of modern morals as if they are better than other morals. So if you believe your morals are better than other peoples you are appealing to some objective standard -- since better assumes you know what is best. A universal standard that is binding on others.

But If your standard is not binding on others then it is a mere personal preference. So which is it? Do you believe in objective morals or just your preference? If your beliefs are merely a preference then how can you say they are better? It's just a subjective opinion. If your morals are objective then show us where we can find this objective standard.

The irony of your claim is you believe that truth is relative to us; however, you are appealing to some moral authority to claim Christians are bigots. This is a groundless worldview that cannot account for the moral absolutes you takes for granted.  Truth is relative, according to you, yet you will make arbitrary moral claims against the Christian worldview! This is hopelessly inconsistent.
