What Distinguishes Protestant from Roman Catholic Theology? (.pdf)
Geoff Ashley
SUMMARY: There are many shared beliefs between Roman Catholic and Protestant theology including the doctrine of the Trinity, the
shared deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, the crucifixion of Christ, and the virgin birth. At the same time, there are very important
differences between the two understandings. Overall, the crucial distinctions involve the work of Jesus Christ. The question which
must be asked is “is Jesus enough or do we need someone or something else?” From the pages of Scripture we see that the person
and work of Jesus Christ is absolutely sufficient to provide salvation for God’s people. We need nothing more than the gospel of
Christ’s life, death, and resurrection.
