- Faith and Regeneration - Charles Spurgeon
In the following sermon, Spurgeon teaches with the correct biblical tension that saving faith is both the duty of man and is the gift of God (through regeneration). Spurgeon's doctrinal position on this issue is so important and vital to understanding and recovering the gospel, that I feel we need to get many essays and sermons like these in the hands of modern evangelicals. The highlighted sections of his sermon are concepts that I think are particularly illuminating. In this sermon Spurgeon says, "Faith in the living God and his Son Jesus Christ is always the result of the new birth, and can never exist except in the regenerate."
