Word and Spirit

Home >> Holy Spirit >>

The progress from a changed consciousness to a changed conviction is directed by the Holy Spirit. The Spirit works with the Word. He does not work against the Word or without the Word. The Word and the Spirit go toge!her. Doctrine and life go together. To separate them is to frustrate the work of sanctification within us and to grieve the Holy Spirit.
-R. C Sproul

"The carnal man can have no true interest or appreciation in the gospel apart from the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, and yet this miracle takes place in the heart of man through the gospel preaching which he at first disdains. Therefore, we must preach to carnal men the very message they do not want to hear, and the Spirit must work!"
- Paul Washer
